Finding a Credit Counselor
In Oct of 2005 the New Bankruptcy law went into effect. One
of the most important new parts of the law is that it will become much
more difficult for people to enter into Chapter 7 and will instead will
need to file bankruptcy under the
Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.
Chapter 13 requires that you pay at least some of your debt and requires
you to work with a credit counselor. The idea of course is that by
working with a credit counselor will find ways to work your way
out of your current financial troubles and also by working with a credit
counselor you'll discover ways to prevent from falling into future
financial troubles. Credit Counselors job is to assist
you , to work with you through your bankruptcy . That's their job and it
really is in your best interest to work with your credit counselor
because the sooner you have a plan or paying off debt and living within
your means the sooner the stress of living in debt will go away.
You'll feel better , you can even become healthier as you cleaning
up the debt and relieving that burden from your everyday life .
Chapter 7 bankruptcy does not require meeting with a credit
counselor. After Bankruptcy you'll need to work on a
Household budget
and learn to live by it , the longer you live by a budget the easier it
becomes. You'll get
Credit Card
offers after your bankruptcy and the temptation will be strong but just
remember the collection letters and phone calls from the Credit Card
companies before you sign on the doted line.
Credit
Card Minimum Payment are rising starting in Jan 06.
